Folding Partitions, or Operable Walls as they are some times referred, have been a mainstay in educational, institutional, religious, and civic facilities since their introduction in the 1920’s.  They have become one of the most important aspects to effective space management in building design and use.  These partitions are usually much more expensive than accordion partitions, however, they can achieve excellent sound transmission results.  STC ratings for these partitions range from the mid 40’s to the mid 50’s.

There are electric and manual walls as well as three styles of panel layouts including individual panels, paired panels, and continuously hinged panels.  These partitions can be surfaced with almost any style of wall covering including vinyl, fabric, carpet, and laminates.  Optional accessories include pass doors, markerboards, chalkboards, tackboards.
